Stories of Lost Grandchildren

Jordyn Grace Closson
by Brenda Knippelberg, Kamloops, BC, Canada

Jordyn's mother was pre-eclampsic. Jordyn was born at 26 weeks at 1 pound 7 ounces. on February 27, 2004. However, she thrived and grew with hardly any problems. At 3 months we got to take her home. She again thrived, but was slow to learn to crawl. She was diagosed a week before her first birthday with stage 3 liver cancer. During the next 6 months she had extensive chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. During which time she rarely left the hospital due to sickness from the chemo. Then she had 80% of her liver removed. This operation was successful.

After her 2nd birthday, she had a CAT scan done to see her progression in April. She was growing almost an inch a month. She was so busy and beautiful. She was sick on April 19, 2006 and her parents rushed her to the hospital. The doctors there said they felt she only had a flu and sent her home, even though her mother insisted it was more than that. They would not listen to her mother and made the family leave the emergency room.

Jordyn passed away the following morning from heart failure caused by volvulus - which was what her mother insisted was wrong with her.

We miss her so much every day.
