Stories of Other Loss

Kevin
by Aunt Gus, Saskatoon, Canada

It has almost been a year since my brother's son, Kevin died at home of a heart attack. He was 25 years old. He was one of two children and my only nephew. I can still remember that phone call from my brother March 23/01. The world came crashing down around me. How could this happen to someone so young and full of life? Kevin never got sick ever! When I arrived at my brothers I heard the full details of his death and the one thing that stuck out was that for some reason Kevin had been tieing up loose ends prior to his death. He was not a real emotional kind of young man yet here he was telling everyone he loved them and that he had never been happier. It makes you wonder? Kevin and I had a special relationship. Even though we were many miles away from each other and I have three children of my own, Kevin and I were always ready for the battle of the wits. Who could out tease the other!! My grief cannot compare to that of my brother and his family but I do share their pain and wish I could somehow make it better for them.

We miss you Kevin, you will be in our hearts for ever.
