Haileigh: The Best 4 Hours
by Nikita, Portland, OR, U.S.A.

So, here goes:

March 13, 2014 I found out I was expecting a baby; My 4 year old son was happy to be getting a little baby brother or sister. On June 16, 2014 I was 18 weeks pregnant, and my water broke. PPROM wasn't explained to me until later on. At 26 weeks pregnant, I was finally hospitalized until I delivered my 2lb 13oz daughter at 28 weeks by emergency c-section. My entire hospital stay was horrendous. 5 doctors, 14 nurses, and NO ONE could've prepared me for that day. September 1, 2014 at 10:45 in the morning, I had Haileigh, totally ignorant to the fact that at 2:55pm the same day that I got to meet my daughter, she'd be taken from me just as suddenly.

It kills me to come home, after being in the hospital for weeks, empty handed and filled with self-hate. I don't know why I hate myself, but I do. Is that normal? I'm doing this all on my own and I just don't know what to do to make it any easier.

Haileigh: Mommy will see you again soon. I promise.
