Stories of Lost Children

Joshua Adam Turrey
by Josie Turrey, Rowland Height, CA, U.S.A.

Joshua Adam Turrey was born March 14, 1991. He was born with a heart disease/seizure disorder and was mentally delayed. Doctors told us he would never walk and talk and he would be mentally retarded. Well Joshua proved them wrong. Joshua was able to walk, talk, dance, run and he was a little bit delayed. Joshua was terminally ill and did not know when God would call him. Make a Wish Foundation granted Joshua his wish to go to Walt Disney World 2000. It was one of the best times of his life.

On Saturday October 8, 2005, I sent Joshua off to a Saturday program called Mary and Friends. He never missed going and he enjoyed being around the leader and kids. It was about 1:30 p.m. when I received a call from Olivia, a supervisor from the program, that they were performing CPR on Joshua. They were coming from Peter Piper Pizza when this happened. Elizabeth was with Joshua when her and 2 others were able to perform CPR and start his heart again. Paramedics took 20 minutes before they got to location. After Joshua was being transfered to the hospital, he went into a coma. These were the most horrible days of our life. Then he was transfered to his hospital where he was NICU for a week. His doctors came and spoke to us and said that my son had no brain activity. It would be our choice to take him off life support and we agreed. This was the most awful thing we had to do. We didn't want to see him suffer; he was a very happy boy, caring loving and funny and he touch so many lives.

God came to take him home on October 16, 2005. It's been 2 years now and it seems like it was just yesterday. Joshua would have been 15 years old when he passed. This is for you, Joshua and Andrew.

We love you and you're our Angels.

Mom/Dad/Vincent
