Lily Would Be 4 In A Week
by Rae Desmond, Prospect, KY, U.S.A.

My beautiful little girl Lily would be 4 in a week from today (November 2nd). Only she died just before turning 3 (October 3, 2005). I still think about what she would look like now. She had the deepest blue eyes I have seen, alabaster skin and dark brown hair. She had her fathers smile and his sense of humor. She had my temperment and personality. She laughed at her own jokes just as her father does and she observed before acting, again just as he does. Only I found her saying things and making gestures just as I do. She was such a good little girl. She sat in my lap everyday while I read her stories and sang to her. She had five songs (that had to be in order) and played her two musics (one pull toy nursery rhyme while the CD for the Care Bears started up). I so miss these routine things. Breakfast every morning was oatmeal with milk.

I still cannot go grocery shopping and pass certain foods without crying for her. I barely remember how it felt to hold her tall thin frame in my arms. She was 43 inches tall and only weighed 26lbs. when she died.

It is much worse this year than last year, believe it or not. Last year I was in such shock that I could hardly feel. Now the reality has set in and there is no hope of waking up from this nightmare. I will not ever hold her again or sing to her again or play her music for her again!

I love my daughter just as much today as I did the day she died. I miss her in a deepness I had no idea existed.

Happy Birthday Lily!
Have God hug and kiss you for me!
I love you Lily!

Mommy
