Stories of Lost Children
My baby Boy Rahquan

I am a twenty two year old female that just lost a child a few hours after birth. I must say Thanatophoric Dysplasia is a very uncommon disease an infant can have. When we started we knew nothing was wrong with our child. Everything seemed fine. Then when I was about five months along they noticed that our son had short femurs so they sent us to a specialist. We were sent to Geisinger in Danville,Pa to Dr.Maslow. We knew nothing was wrong but they gave us a couple of things to look up all of wish had to do with dwarfism of some sort. Anyways... we went to Dr. Maslow to find out what exactly was wrong. They starting doing an ultrasound and the doctor had a very strange look on his face. All of a sudden he turned to me and said I am very sorry Ms Phillips your son has the most lethal form of dwarfism and said that there was nothing they could do. A couple weeks later I received a call. They discussed with me an abortion. I was going to do it even though I was not comfortable with it. I called to the hospital a day before I was to have the abortion and they said that i would have to have two thousand dollars up front. Well needless to say I didn't have it lying around the house anywhere so I didn't have it performed.I guess that isn't what god had in his plan for us. I ended up having having an amnio and it confirmed the doctor was correct. On April 21,2006 I had him at 3:43 pm. I lived on oxygen for two hours but if wouldn't have had the oxygen he probably wouldn't have lived that long. The cause of death was respirtory failure because he chest was too small to grow lungs.
