Our Little Man

After 10 years, my husband and I decided to have another child, we both have girls. We tried a couple of times and then found out I was going to have a baby, we were both so very happy. A few months have gone by, and we found out we were having a baby boy, my husband and I we so excited, since we both had girls, and having a boy would be a new experience for us. My due date was April 28, 2005 and I ended up having him on the 29th. He was perfect at least that is what I thought, until they took him away from us and sent him to the NICU. We found out he had a severe heart defect and we were told it could be fixed. The doctors ended up taking our son to LIJ hospital and they had to operate on him on that Monday. I was released from the hospital where I had him on Saturday and rushed over there. The next two days were so so hard, and the Monday came, this was the longest day of our lives. We were told he was going to be fine, the day goes by, and then we get the bad news, his heart defect was more complicted then they thought and the chances of him coming back to us was very slim. We waited all night for something to happen, for his heart to start to work on its own, but it never did. They had to take our son off the machines, and when they did a piece of me died inside. It has been almost two months since our sons passing, and we think about him all the time, even though he was only with us a few days, they were the best days of our lives.
