Stories of Lost Children

To Debbie, Atwater, CA, U.S.A.
by Christine, Belleville, MI, U.S.A.

Debbie,

I wanted to write to you.

My 17 year old son passed July 3, 2002. He too was my best friend. It was a car accident that took him from me. I hurt so bad somedays I don't know how I can make it through the day. The first year like you, I went to the cemetary everyday now I go 2 or 3 times a week. Many people give me grief for it. Then I read your letter and thought, yes this is how a mom feels who lost their son, their best friend. I am so glad you shared.

My son Joshua was my youngest child and was my only child left at home. So now I live in quiet. No more music coming from his room. No more wonderful long talks. No more smiles. It is a pain I believe that will never go away until we see them in Heaven. Although I believe that the pain in our hearts we feel for the loss of our boys is a reminder of our love we had for them and them for us. Always to be there.

We learn to function ...but nothing ever to be the same for we now belong to a group we never wanted to belong to, namely "Mothers who have lost a child." God Bless you and give you strength.

Chris (Joshua's mom)
