Stories of Lost Children

Our Little Miracle
by Monica E. McDonald, Brooklyn, NY, U.S.A.

We spent 14 years trying to have a child, countless procedures, surgeries, and endless emotional ups and downs. Suddenly when we gave up trying we found about you. You were our little miracle and the news that you were coming was the best father's day gift I ever gave your dad. So many things went wrong, but you hung on, You were a true McDonald, a fighter from the get go.

January 7th my water broke and I knew you were going to be born, but I thought I had more time; I was wrong. The only thing I was able to do was dial 911 before my blood pressure skyrocketed and caused me to have a seizure and cut off your oxygen. I couldn't believe you were gone, after everything we had gone through. I still sit in your room and feel your loss, and my arms still ache to hold you.

I'm so sorry my precious angel, that you never got to know your wild and wonderful family. Your dad is the most amazing person I've ever met and he and your brother and sister are the only reason I have to go on. That and the idea that maybe you were never supposed to be with us. You were meant to be an angel and that was your destiny.

So until I can hold you in my arms, remember, you are always in my heart. I love you forever.

Love always, Mom
