Stories of Lost Children

Taken From Us
by Sherry, Jim Thorpe, PA, U.S.A.

My son Hunter was 5 years old when he was taken from us on January 20, 2003. From then my life has never been the same. I always made sure my kids were safe and I could not save him. I was hit by a driver who lost control on the drfted highway. I had no way to get out of the way. My beautiful son lived for seven days in the ICU but his head trauma was so severe that he was pronounced brain dead on the 7th day. We donated his organs hoping he would live on through others.

Hunter had the biggest brown eyes and a smile that would brighten up a room; I miss him so much. I do have a little guy that will be four, and it takes all I can do to keep going for him. I always make sure my children were in a car seat and because of the way the car was hit, my son did not even have a chance. I have a lot of anger and a lot of emotions that run through my head but I know that my sweet Hunter is in no pain and is my angel. I know I will hold him again but it seems so long!

Hunter's birthday was April 16th and it took all I could do to stay strong. I know that he was looking down and smiling at the balloons that we let go in the sky for him. We miss you Hunt.

I hope if someone is feeling the same or needs someone to talk to with the same experience, please feel free to email me at hare1@ptd.net.

Thank you for letting me share my story.
