Stories of Lost Children

My Precious Angel

by Kristy Williams, Oklahoma City, OK, U.S.A.

On the morning of April 10th, 2003, I woke up to my water breaking. By 7:00 that night, infection had set in and the Dr.'s had to terminate my pregnancy. They had told me that because I was only 21 weeks, my baby wouldn't have a chance in life. But my life was in danger as well and the Dr.'s gave me no choice. At 11:00 p.m., they came in and gave me some medicine to make the labor process faster. At 4:52am, April 11th, 2003, I delivered a beautiful baby girl. We named her Aubrey Nicole.

Once born, she was still breathing and her heart still beating. As I laid there and cried and looked at her, I begged the Dr.'s to please save my daughter, but all they
told me was that they couldn't do anything to save her. They allowed us to take some pictures before cleaning her, and then they took her and cleaned her up and put her in a little pink dress and brought her back to me. She looked just like an Angel, and she will always be my Angel. Finally, at 6:30a.m., she took her last breath and she passed away.

They came and took her because she had died. It is hard, and it's only been a day since. And planning the funeral, and everything that goes along with the death of your own child is just mentally tearing me apart. I never dreamed in a million years that I'd be burying my own child. Somebody, please, help me through this. I can't do this anymore.
