Stories of Other Loss

Murder
by Michele Alhroob, Rocky Mount, U.S.A.

The murder of a sibling is so profound and devastating that I do not think that it has ever been fully explored. My sister was brutally kidnapped, raped, tormented and murdered when I was 16 and she was 20. I have just really realized that I have been in hell for years. THis happened in 1980 when no one really new what was up so I have suffered in silence for almost 26 years. I am on a second marriage talking divorce. Everyone was rightfully concerned about my mother but forgot my brother and I. Our lives have suffered because of this and I think it is about time to realize that we are talking about people who are so much alike biologically and emotionally that there would have to be a profound loss. Almost as strong as a parent and in some ways stronger, when both had the same mother and father. THanks Michele - 25 year victim.
