Stories of Other Loss

Our Sweet Katie
by Cheryl Branson, Washburn, U.S.A.

Katie was 17 years old, would have been 18 if she would have made it but she went to heaven on Oct. 11,2004 and her birthday was Oct. 14,2004. On Oct. 3, 2004 Katie and her boyfriend Eric were going to get a pizza. While on their way they were struck by a drunk driver head on. When we got the call from a neighbor asking my husband and I if we had our scanner on. My heart beating so fast because my daughter was out that night. He then told us that it was Katie. When we arrived at the scene I couldn't believe my eyes. Eric was being transported to the hospital while the other emergency workers were working with Katie to get her out of the car. I said to myself, this could not be happening. She was also taken to the hospital. There were so many people there to help support them and their families. So many long days and nights came to an end when Katie couldn't hang on anymore. This Child was like my own. she gave so much to my family and to others. Katie was so out going and well known all around. Her death hit alot of people in the heart. It still seems just like a bad dream. A poem that I read said it all. A part of my heart went with Katie. Parents, don't never take for granted that your Child will come back home. Just so that you will know, Eric is doing fine still a long road to recovery and the drunk driver died that night. Please!!!!! Don't Drink and Drive.

I love & miss you Katie. You will always be in my heart.

Cheryl

PS: Please pray for the family.
