Stories of Lost Grandchildren

C.J. was born on 8/20/86. When I held him, I knew "this is what I was meant to do". He was our first grandchild - I never dreamed I could love a child as much as I love him! On 2/19/01, he stopped by a friend's house with another friend - who picked up a gun, and accidently ended C.J.'s life. He was 13 1/2 yrs. old. The hallway at the hospital ICU unit was packed with caring family and friends - all praying that he would survive the surgery and be life-flighted to Tulsa. But that didn't happen. I miss him so much, and am so worried about his mom (my wonderful daughter) and dad, and his sister Katey, age 8. Also his Papa Jim, uncles & aunts, cousins who loved him, and the rest of our family. It has been just over a month, and the grief, sorrow and missing him is with me every minute of every day. I know that C.J. is in a perfect place, he will never suffer pain, disappointment or sorrow. I feel that he is very busy - and I know that he will be there to meet me when it's my time. But until then, I cannot imagine the rest of this life without him. He loved me unconditionally, was never embarrassed or in the least hesitant to show his love and affection for us. I am so grateful that he was born and that we were blessed with having him for 13 1/2 short years. We have found comfort in knowing that HE knew how very loved he was, and how proud we were of him. I love you, C.J. - and will always hold you in my heart. My arms ache to hold you, and my heart is broken. Our wonderful memories will hopefully help ease not having you with us, the anquish of how you were taken. And knowing that we will see your smiling face again makes it possible to go on.
