Stories of Lost Grandchildren

Our Little Princess
by S.V., Terre Haute, IN, U.S.A.

Maggie was a very bright and energetic 5 year old. She was attending kindergarten, had her orange belt in Tae Kwon Do and was a beautiful little girl. She was precious to everyone who knew her. She was funny, polite and we played together a lot. She loved Barbies and tea parties. On February 20 she spent my birthday with us. On February 21 on her way to her other grandma's house they had an accident and Maggie was pronounced brain dead later that evening. She became an organ donor at that time.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wonder why we lost her. She brought me so much happiness and joy. I lost my job in Jan of 08 and because of that I got to spend so much more time with her than I would have if I had still worked. The overwhelming sadness in this family is unbelievable. We try not to talk about what happened so as to not upset anyone. But in our hearts she will always hold a special place. We loved her so much and we always will. She was the second granddaughter that I have lost. Her sister Lucy died at 5 weeks of age from Acute Bronchitis. These were two of Gods precious little ones that he shared with this family for just a little while and I know that one day we'll all be together again. In the meantime it's hard to go through each day without her and know that we won't get to spend anymore time watching her grow and learning all about growing up.

We love you and miss you Maggie!
