Stories of Lost Grandchildren

On May 3rd of 2006, I had the most precious little guy in the world come into my life. We already knew from prenatal testing that he would need immediate heart surgery and more to follow in the early months of his life. He made it through open heart surgery and came home to Kentucky for 2 weeks and had to return back to the hospital due to Spinal Meningitis and Endocarditis. A couple weeks later he was home smiling and trying so hard to get better. Approximately a month later, just two weeks before a second open heart surgery, he died suddenly. It was such a shock even though we knew he was very sick. I was holding him that morning and suddenly he stopped breathing. His Mom called 911 as I did CPR. The ambulance came and rushed him to the hospital where their attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. I miss him so much!! He was our first Grandchild and so wonderful to have in our life. I thank God for the time we had and I would not take all the treasures in the world for the memories I have of him and how he would look at me and smile, how he would babble as I talked to him and how sweet he was just to hold and cuddle. I was jokingly known as "the baby hog" by everyone in the family because I did not want to let him go even for just a second. Now I have no choice but to go on without him. I do pray every night that I dream of him and sometimes when I do, I wake up with a sense of him being nearby. I know I will see him one day and he will be with my Mom being rocked and spoiled just like I would have done myself. That is not a bad thing, because he deserved to be spoiled and loved by everyone.
