I have already submitted a memorial and my story, but I find that I have a need to say more. I hope no one minds. My brother Derek Presley, only 20 years old, is gone forever and the constant aching in my heart is almost more than I can bear. My brother was the the best at everything he did; maybe not THE best, but he always did HIS best. I was 3 years old when he was born, 23 when he died. We were closer than most siblings, we had more than a biological bond, we were linked in a much more spiritual way. He was a thrill seeker. I wouldn't say he didn't hear our lectures and pleas to be careful, or he didn't take them to heart, he just was an adventurous kid. Being careful took all the fun out of it. Derek always knew he would die young. He told us so all the time. Saying things like "this song is so good play it at my funeral" and "bury me with my rope, hat and chaps" Somehow he knew God sent him hear for a brief visit. Maybe it was a premonition, a vision, or just a gut feeling he knew. We never did. We always yelled at him when he talked about his death. Derek did everything he said he wanted to do. There are only 2 things he wanted to do, that he won't be here to do, 1) Be World Champion Bull rider (which given the time he would have done that), and 2) and be here with his daughter and niece as they grow up. Other than that, he did everything he said he wanted to do. He was a true lover of life.
