Stories of Lost Children

Dancing across Heaven
by Corky Lynes, Moran, KS, U.S.A.

My husband Dale and I were older parents with one child together. I was very sick with a liver tumor when she was born. The Doctors said she saved my life by putting her foot in the tumor. She was always special. Her name was Brandi Nichole Lynes she was born Feb. 12 1986, and died in a auto accident Nov. 26 1999. The day I got that call was the worst day of my life. Brandi had gone Christmas shopplng with my 29 year old daughter and they were broadsided by a SUV. Brandi died at the scene and Missy was in a comma for 3 weeks. Missy lived. To know Brandi was to love her, Her teacher called her a champion of the underdog, and that she had charisma than most people achive in a lifetime. Brandi earned lots of money over the years in talent and beauty competitions, and every penny she won or earned teaching dance wa donated to community Christmas trees so every little girl could have a Barbie. About $30,000.00 worth of toys were purchased by her. When she was 8 she was nominated and won National Community Service Queen. She was the first to greet any new student and be their friend. Her theory in life was: It's not what you look like or who you are that makes you pretty, its what you are on the inside. And believe me, she lived by that.

Brandi was given to me as a gift and I don't regret One second of her life, I only regret we did't have longer, because you are not supposed to bury your child.
