My Little fighter Samantha

When we find out we were pregnant We were so happy, we share it with all our family and friend, at 4 months pregnant I went for my regular check up and they did blood test 2 days later they call me a say that there were something wrong and that they have to send me to a high risk doctor, so when I got there they did several test and they told me the bad news that my baby had this rare syndrome that occurred in 1 of 1000 babies born and only in girls and is call Turners Syndrome we were so happy because it was a GIRL!! But the bad news was her syndrome the Doctor told me that she wasn’t going to make to full term and if I wanted to terminate the pregnancy I say NO WAY so they told me to think about it because turners baby don't survive more that 5 months, so they told me to make another appointment but probably I would cancel it because they just give 2 more week and they I was going to have a miscarriage but my next appt came out and my baby was still there and she was moving now the doctor were amazed because they didn't believe my baby was still alive, so they did another ultrasound and they find out that she wasn’t growing to much and they also find out the my baby had cystic hygroma and a heart problem call Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome that means her left side didn't developed right, I was just devastated for this new, so once again they told me that my baby was not going to make for the heart problem and they give three options if the baby gets born which they didn't think was going to happen one was to have a heart transplant which was hard because she was too small and besides that she would need to be in a waiting list second was to have a 3 stages surgery and the third one was to take the baby home and they were going to give her a medicine so she could only survive 6 hrs and then died, so I choose to give my baby the chance to live and I choose the 3 stage surgery, I was going to the doctor 2 times per week so they can be monitoring her heart and when I was 36 weeks pregnant they send me to the Hospital because they thought there was a problem with her heart, so I went to the Hospital and I stay there they said that they were going to enduce me because her heart rate was dropping so they give me medicine but my baby wasn’t happy with that at all so they did a emergency c-section and finally my little miracle was born her weight was only 3 kilos, but she was perfect, she was beautiful, she cried SHE MAKE IT SHE WAS ALIVE, the doctor could believe that, because also when I was 5 months pregnant I meet with the head of the NICU so he explain to me that if my baby was born she was going to be taken immediately to the NICU and she was going to have a lot of tube even a artificial respirator because they said for her condition she wasn’t going to make but they were wrong once again my baby was born and yes she was taking to the NICU but when I went to see her she was so beautiful she didn't have any tubes, machines or anything she was breathing all by herself the only thing is that she need to have her first open heart surgery in 3 days, everything was ready because also when I was pregnant I went to meet the surgeon who was going to perfome Samantha first surgery, so I was so happy that my Baby made, But later on the bad news came she cardiologist came to my room and told me that we need to find another surgeon because for my baby weight the Hospital wasn’t able to perform the surgery so He start looking for another hospital that would do my Baby surgery and find two choices one was a Children’s Hospital in San Francisco or Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I choose the one in Los Angeles, so my baby was transported by helicopter to the hospital and has her first surgery at 6 days old, and its was a miracle she made it after the surgery, she stay in the hospital at the NICU because she had to learn how to eat, then again she star getting sick from the heart they find out some fluid around her heart they did a small procedure to take the fluid out, the next day they did another ultrasound and they found out more fluid so she went back to surgery in less that 2 months, finally everything was going good, they said that we were going to take our baby by thanksgiving but not she develops a pneumonia and she stay at the hospital, then they said by Christmas but they notice a coartation on the aorta and my baby stay for Christmas so finally the day we were waiting for, she came home when she was 3 months well she last only 10 days home and went back to the hospital her heart was failing again, she stay in the hospital for almost 1 months and she was ok again she went back home again for 10 days only .I was sad, but this time was worse she was 5 months went we took her to the hospital she developed again pneumonia and she was more sick every time and she needed her second surgery but she was still to small they want her to gain more weight so she can resist her surgery but we being sick all the time it was really hard it was like a roller coaster, well she was a lot of tubes, nitrogen, artificial respirator, IVs, they did not want to do anymore to her because they said she wasn’t going to make so she got transfer to Children’s Hospital Orange County, but they said they could not do anything else for her she was really sick, they 2 days later she got transported by helicopter to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, so we drove all the way there and when we got there they said she was really sick and they didn't want to perform the surgery until she gets better for the pneumonia so we were waiting day and night at the CTICU hoping and praying for my Baby, I was all the time with her I didn't want leave her by herself, I was staying at a Ronald McDonald House, I live there for several months because all I wanted to do is being with my baby, so finally she got better its was a Miracle she went for her 2nd surgery and she did good she was intubeded for a long time but finally they took it out she was only with oxygen well all her short life she was with oxygen after her heart surgeries, but she was alive she made we were amazed even the doctor because even do she was so sick one day she didn't need the oxygen anymore, she was a "normal baby again", we took her for first time to the hospital garden to the chapel and we were so happy so on May 22 2008 she finally came she was home for only 2 days she went to heaven on May 24, she was sleeping, she went in peace at her home with mom and dad and all her Family she is my little fighter and angel taking care of us from heaven.
