Stories of Lost Children

Heartbroken
by Zoe, Leigh, Lancashire, UK

I was told I was pregnant. I was so happy but sad because it was my uncle’s fault I was pregnant. I left Dundee to live with my parents in Leigh were I found he had fluid on the brain. I was hart broken and as the week went on so did the fluid grow. I felt like I was being punished six weeks early. Paul was born by emergency C-Section. He was born in wigan 29/6 /07. From then he got meningitis and he was in and out of ICU a lot. We had him baptized for his sake and he still has his angel blanket. Then he was moved to Manchester Children’s Hospital were we got told he had a serious kidney disease where the protein that he needed just got pee’d out of his system that made him prone to illness and he needed a central line which kept falling out. He got lots more infections lots off times and it was too hard to see him like that. He swelled up like a balloon and I felt stressed wondering why me and why him. But there were no answers as time went on. It kept getting worse then the doctor told me. He either dies in your arms or dies on these machines. I said he aint dying here and he didn’t. Paul passed away in my arms at Derian House Children’s Hospice with his gran there for support.

We miss him so much and hope you understand we gave him a chance but god had other plans for little Paul Leon Louis. He passed 1/9/07. Always in our hearts.
