Stories of Lost Children

Baby Wyatt
by Mandy, Lakebay, WA, U.S.A.

We found out we were pregnant in August 2007. We were very excited! Baby number 4! My older children were so excited, but my husband and I knew that something was wrong. We found out Nov. 1, we tested positive for Trisomey 18. It turned out to be a false positive, but they found a heart defect. Wyatt had Truncas, his heart didn't develop completely and the 2 kinds of blood were mixing. While he was in utero he was fine, but once he was born was going to be hard. He had to have open heart surgery. They also found out he had DiGeorge's syndrome. a chromisone disorder having up to 150 different health and mental issues. We were ready to help him fight for what ever came our way.

Wyatt was born May 14, 2008 and was perfect! I got to hold him and everything in the delivery room. We spent the next 2 weeks in the NICU. He got tired so fast when he was eating so he had feeding tubes, but other than that he was amazing! He didn't start his meds. until he was 7 days old!

On May 29th, 2008 Wyatt got transfered to the PICU for his heart surgery. He made it through is surgery, but his kidney's were not working 100% yet. The doctors started Dialisis, but had to change one of his catheter. When they did, they poped a whole in his intestine. On May 1st they performed emergency surgery. Wyatt made it through that surgery as well, but not through the night.

I got to hold my baby boy one as he passed away and went to heaven. But I only wish I could hold him one more time, smell him again, and have him look at me one more time!

My pain and grief are overwhelming! I feel like I'm stuck in a hazey bubble and the whole world around me is continuing and I'm stuck in one place!

Baby Wyatt we love you so much and miss you terribly.

Love Mama, Daddy, Mikie, Tyler and Kailey
