Stories of Lost Children
Missing My Angel Cody
by Sheila Ebbing, Newton, IA, U.S.A.
In February of 95, I lived in Arizona and found out I was pregnant with my third child. Before that pregnancy, I lost a baby at 2 weeks along. Things went well since I was 3 months along. When the doctor said there were problems, the placenta was under his head and if it was still like that when it came time to have him. I couldn't deliver like that. We had moved back to Iowa and I got into seeing a doctor. He did an ultrasound and things were fine again. Things went well throughout the pregnancy. He was a baby I wanted so much so I could watch him grow up with his big brother. When I was 8 months along, I went out of town for a doctors appointment for my oldest son. When I got home I didn't feel good and I told my mom I was going to lay down. I slept all afternoon and night and woke up in morning in pain and bleeding. My mom took me in and that's when they said I had lost my baby. On August 29th 1995, I gave birth to my son Cody Allan Clark and he weighed 4 lbs 5 oz, 19 1/2 inches long. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to my baby. I held him for 14 hours straight before I gave him up. My family took care of the funeral. He looked so much like his brother. I'm still dealing with his loss. I haven't had anyone that would listen to me when I wanted to talk about it. All these years I kept it inside and its just getting worse. Cody remember you're in my thoughts and memory. I love you and miss you. Love Mommy
