Stories of Lost Children

Bill

by A.S., Oak Forest, IL, U.S.A.

Our son died 5/08/2006 @6:29am the day my world will never be the same. It still hurts so much - most people don't understand. He was my baby with 2 older sisters. Billy had cystic fibrosis, which most of his friends did not know - I found out at his wake. He didn't want to be treated any differently than anyone else. But he died of colon cancer. He was diagnosed at 18 - without having any signs. It was found by accident when he started to get a little twitch every once in awhile in his side - it was already at stage 3. In December, after surgery and 4 chemo treatments, he had a PET & CAT scans - everything was clear - all he had to do now was finish out his chemo. He spent most of January - March 2006 in the hospital with lung infections - the chemo was too much for his body. At the end of March he had another CAT scan and it showed one suspicious cell in a lymphnode in his neck. 3 weeks later after another CAT scan, we were given the devasating news - he only had weeks to live the cancer had spread all over his body. Bill had a wonderful attitude right up to the end.

We miss him so much. I can't believe I will ever get use to this feeling.
