Stories of Lost Children

Lily
by Rae Desmond, Prospect, KY, U.S.A.

My beloved Lily. She was such wonderful little girl. She would have been 3 yrs. old in another month. We had no idea that she was going to die. She was so filled with life and happiness. No one can still tell us why she died. She just did! I was 40 when she was born. We waited so long to have a child. We had given up then here she was. So perfect, she was so sweet and loving with such an agreeable disposition. She loved life. We crammed in so many things, trips to Disney, to zoos and parks and museums. It was almost as if we knew there was not going to enough time. But most of all we remembered to always have fun and to laugh. She had an enourmous smile and the deepest blue eyes you ever saw. She was finally getting her hair and was proud of the beautiful brown color that could finally hold bows like other girls her age. She loved her family and friends and her preschool teachers.
Her poodle Pierre died soon after she did. I'm sure he joined her in heaven.

I just want for her to come home so I can hold her and kiss her one last time. I miss Lily so badly.

We will never have an understanding as to why she died, just that she did. That is so frustrating. We love her so.

Mommy and Daddy
