Stories of Lost Children

My Two Baby Girls
by C., Surrey, BC, Canada

I did not think that I was ever going to be pregnant, or ever want to have a baby. But when my mom died, my world changed and it changed my mind. I was pregnant 10 months after she died. We found out in July we were pregnant and in August we found out it was twins! Wow, I was floored and could not believe it was really happening. We were okay for the first 3 motnhs, I did spot a little at 3 months but it passes. I did not think you could lose a baby after 3 months. We were 6 months pregant and getting bigger by the minute. I was tired and I had an afternoon nap after work. I got up because I felt a large movement, I went to the bathroom and I was bleeding. I called my husband and he took me to the hospital and everything looked okay, the babies were fine, the doctor wanted to keep me there for observation. By 11 PM I was in so much pain, he came in and said he was sorry but I was in labour and he was going to deliver my babies. I did not belive him, but it was happening. 12:03 AM, Simone was born under a pound, and at 5:15 AM Joy was born under a pound as well. The doctors said there was nothing they could do for them. They were too small and would not survive. We held them and cried. That was Novemeber 23 2003. It still hurts like it was yesterday.

Joy & Simone, your mommy loves you and misses you every minute of every day.

I would love to hear from others with similar stories to help me through. carolynbill@shaw.ca
