Stories of Lost Children

Another Way
by L.Q., Wellsville, NY, U.S.A.

We awakened to a police car pulling into the driveway around 4:30 a.m. on August 3, 2005. I got up and quickly asked God to give me grace before I went to answer the door. One of the officers asked me if I knew where Sam was. I said, "he's upstairs sleeping" and he asked if we would go up and check to make sure. My husband went up to check and came back to tell us that Sam wasn't in his room. The officer proceeded to tell us that there had been an accident and a fatality and they believed that Sam was the victim.

Sam had decided to sneak out of the house and skateboard to a friend's house to pick up an MP3 player that he wanted to use the next morning. He was killed in a hit and run accident.

Since Sam died, I have spent the last 5 months on many grief web sites reading the stories of hundreds of parents who have lost their children to death. There seems to be a general despair, severe depression, hopelessness, and even suicidal thoughts. My heart goes out to you. I feel that I would be a very uncaring person if I didn't share with you another way. Don't get me wrong, I experience grief so deep that I can't reach the bottom as I'm sure you do, but I don't live there. There is this great treasure of God's grace, peace and comfort. The Lord comes to my rescue whenever I need Him and call upon Him. I believe He will do the same for you if you will be willing to ask and recieve.

God bless all of you!
