Stories of Lost Children

Our Princess
by Leigh O'Dell, Waxahachie, TX, U.S.A.

My first born daughter Chelsea Leighann was taken from us on May 5, 2005. She was taken through a drowing accident at my mother's home on Monday May 2, 2005. I was home alone with her and my 3 week old daughter Isabella who was born 4 years and 3 months to the day after Chelsea. She was transported to Childrens Medical Center in Dallas where she opened her eyes to us at about 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday May 3, 2005, and her father and I now realize it was to let us know that she knew we were there with her and to say goodbye. We knew that she had been through enough and decided to turn off the life support machines on Thursday morning. After holding her in my arms for the last time and saying our goodbyes I didn't know what to do.

I know that she is in a better place now and is a "BIG SISTER" to all the children now, as well as Isabella. We miss her terribly and love her always. At the gravesite, we released close to 200 balloons for her, a few of which held notes from her grandparents. We believe in our family that when you loose a balloon, it floats to Heaven and God collects them for you. When you reach heaven, you recieve a bouquet of all the balloons you've ever lost. Our angel was taken to soon, so we sent her, her balloons.
