Stories of Lost Children

I Hear Alysha Singing In Heaven
by Charlene and Patrick, Port Coquitlam, B.C., Canada

When we found out that we were having a third baby, we were ecstatic. This was an unplanned pregnany. We have a beautiful girl and boy already, so we were overjoyed.

Then at 24 weeks we went for an ultrasound. We were informed that there was something wrong with Alysha's heart and there was a blockage in her throat. We had to make a descion to end the pregnany or carry on. We decided to carry on.

As the weeks went by, each ultrasound seemed to look better. There was more hope for Alysha. She was growing strong.

At 35 weeks i went into labour. It was a nightmare. Alysha was head down, but when the water broke, she turned around to be breeched. In to the operating room for an emergency C-Section. Cutting me open, they took out Alysha and found my placenta had torn away and that I was clotting. Alysha had saved my life by making me go for a C-Section, because the doctor told me later that i had lost more than the maximum amount of blood and almost did not make it.

As for our dear Alysha, her heart was not strong enough and she passed away 6 1/2 hours later on January 10, 2005.

She now is remembered in songs from Micheal W. Smith,

"I hear Alysha singing in heaven tonight. And in between the sadness, I hear Alysha telling me that she's alright."

"Heaven calls for you, before it calls for me. When you get there, save me a place. A place where I can share your smile and I can hold you for more than just a while."

We love you forever Alysha. And now we know that Angels really do exist and we can hear you singing in Heaven and know that all is peaceful.

All our love forever until we can be together again.
