Stories of Lost Children

Noah
by Saffron, Sydney, NSW, Australia

This story is a little different to the stories I have read on here so far, but I need to tell it just the same.

My husband and I were married in July 2000, and started trying for a family straight away. I was told in September, and again in December of 2000 that I had suffered miscarriages, both in the first trimester, and although we hadn't known I was pregnant either time, we were both devastated and greived for our lost little angels. Then in March, 2002 I had my very first positive pregnancy test, and we dared to believe that we would soon be holding the son or daughter that we had dreamed of for so long. By that stage we had been trying for a baby for almost 2 years, and we had already bought most of the nursery furniture, so I spent many days getting the nursery set up, making sure it was perfect for the baby that would be arriving in November.

One day I woke up feeling different, and I noticed some spotting. By that afternoon it became clear that something was not right, and an ultrasound confirmed that my baby was dying. His heartrate was very slow (52 beats per minute) and there was nothing the doctors could do to save him. My little Noah was lost on April 10th, 2002.

Since then My husband and I have tried unsuccessfully to have another baby. I'm not sure why we have been chosen to remain childless, but I'm sure that one day we will have our baby in our arms, and we can know the joys of parenthood.
