Wishing I Could Rock You One More Time

January 27, 1998 I delivered a precious baby boy. I had a some what difficult pregnancy and delivered Mason 6 weeks early. I had minor complications from the spinal block I was given during my c-section and did not see my son until he was 3 days old in NICU. He was attached to monitors and oxygen for nearly 2 weeks. I thought that when I took my son home we were now able to move on and I would get to see my son grow and I could not wait to here him call me "Mom" and do all the little things that babies do. Mason was 4 months 3 days old when my husband was driving home from work with him when out of the blue a car spun out from the other side of the road hitting my husband head on. Mason ended up having a serious head injury and basically blead to death. A brain flow test concluded that Mason was brain dead and there was nothing we could do to save him. I wish it could have been me instead of my child. What makes this even worse, my husband was in critical shape in another hospital and here I was about to watch the last breath leave our baby son....and go through watching my son be lowered in the ground without him there. My family and friends were there for me but I needed my child's father so badly. The morning before this wreck Mason laughed out loud for the first time. It will be something I'll never forget. Now I have a 2 year old son and I take nothing for granted. How I miss my Mason. I ache to hold him and kiss his sweet little face. How awesome the day will be when I can see him smiling at me again. I love you, Mason and your mommy misses you and will never forget the footprints you've left on my heart. I will see you again!
