Stories of Lost Children

About Michelle
by Margie Cady, Winona, MN, U.S.A.

My oldest daughter, Michelle, died last July at the age of 22. This occurred just two months after she graduated college, and was starting a new life. She suffered an aneurysm and never regained conciousness. She was in a coma about five days, and I held her hand, constantly talking to her and hoping to help her to hold on. Many people who loved her were in that room. There were so many people who loved her, including her sister, then 13.

Burying my child was the hardest thing I ever did. The day she died was the worst day of my life. It is not a cliche to say Michelle loved life, and lived it to the fullest. She truly did. So many people came from all over the country to her funeral; college friends, swim coaches, and others. Many spoke of Michelle's kindness, and willingness to help others. Even with her loss, I am so grateful for the 22 years she was in my life.
